Newest Exceptional Cask Selection is a 16-Year Single Blended Rum Which Showcases Truly Unique Approaches to Both Rum Blending and Maturation
Corona del Mar, CA (September 25, 2024) – Foursquare, the legendary rum distillery located in Barbados that’s part of the Altamar Brands’ portfolio of premium distilled spirits, has launched its newest Exceptional Cask Selection, Mark XXVI Magisterium, a 16-year Single Blended Rum. These Selections represent the unique, limited, and rare offerings of Foursquare Rum Distillery which Master Distiller and Master Blender Richard Seale hand selected. They are only released when he feels they are of exceptional quality. Each release is one-of-a-kind, only available for a limited time, and showcase truly unique approaches to both Rum blending and maturation.
Magisterium is a blend of three distinct 16-year Single Blended Rums, distilled in the copper Double-Retort Pot Still and the Continuous Twin Column Coffey Still of Foursquare. Two of the rums were double maturations, one aging three years in ex-Bourbon casks, then 13 additional years in Ex-Oloroso Sherry Barrels; the other aging nine years in Ex-Bourbon followed by seven years in Ex-Oloroso Sherry. The last was a Single Blended Rum matured entirely in Ex-Bourbon Casks for 16 years. All blending, bottling, and aging occurred entirely on-site by Master Distiller and Master Blender Richard Seale of Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados.

- Initial Impressions: Elegant and rich. A soft yet complex full palate experience with a lingering and enticing finish
- Aroma: Caramelized orange peel, unlit Maduro cigar, toasted coconut, passionfruit, and caramel, candied almonds and hazelnuts, nougat, with a hint of cedar, sea breeze, and bell pepper
- Palate: Soft, elegant, and savory. Mid-draw cigar notes, rich, and full across the palate, notes of hazelnut, dark cocoa, orange zest, s’mores – toasted leaning into lightly charred marshmallow, lingering hints of fresh blueberry on the palate with a touch of hazelnut
Magisterium was distilled, matured, blended, and bottled in Barbados. No added color, sugar, filtration, or flavor additives. The expression was bottled at 116 proof (58% ABV) and is available throughout the U.S. and online for the suggested retail price of $159.99.
Foursquare Rum Distillery is located on a former sugar plantation that dates back to approximately 1720, within the tiny Caribbean Island of Barbados.
