Whiskey Enthusiasts Encouraged to Participate in a Citywide Scavenger Hunt to Find All of the Barrels Around Town
Traverse City, MI (June 29, 2022) – Traverse City Whiskey Co. (TCWC), aka The Whiskey of the North, has stationed painted barrels throughout the city in honor of the National Cherry Festival. Each barrel was hand-painted by a local artist. Today through Labor Day, the company is encouraging locals and visitors alike to participate in a citywide scavenger hunt to locate the various barrels. Throughout the promotion, the TCWC Facebook and Instagram pages will provide clues as to the location of said barrels.
“We wanted to celebrate this year’s Cherry Festival in a fun and creative way,” said Chris Fredrickson, Founder & President, Traverse City Whiskey Co. “We’re excited for folks to locate and see these incredible works of art.”
How it Works: Scan, Selfie, Social
Participants who find a barrel can scan the QR Code to learn more about the program, via a landing page located at TCWhiskey.com. As an incentive, folks who successfully find (1) barrel (apart from the one located at the TCWC Stillhouse) will win $5 off any purchase of $10 or more at the TCWC Stillhouse. Participants who find (5) barrels will win a hat or a t-shirt and those who find (10) barrels will win a VIP Tour of TCWC for up to six people. To be eligible, folks must take a selfie with each barrel and post it to their personal Facebook or Instagram account and tag @tcwhiskey, using #barrelhunt22. Going Once, Going Twice, Sold!
At the end of the barrel program, TCWC will auction off a select number of barrels to the public during an event at The Stillhouse to be announced. Proceeds will benefit a local charity or charities.

These specialty blends are ongoing limited releases which incorporate rare barrels to create limited edition bourbons and ryes that deliver robust flavor alongside profound complexity.

- This inaugural release of the Equinox Blend was created using Stellum Bourbon. The team slowly layered in rare sets of bourbon barrels, step by step, until the evening of the Vernal Equinox, when the blend was completed in honor of the changing seasons and bottled at cask strength (117.26 proof)
- Stellum Fibonacci Rye Blend #1
- This release celebrates the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers, each the sum of the two previous numbers. Six separate rye blends were combined in accordance with this sequence. Just like so many other presentations of Fibonacci, the blend that it produced was both balanced and beautiful. Bottled at cask strength (115.12 proof)
