Local Event Kicks Off Release of Award-Winning Barrel Proof Cherry Whiskey

Traverse City, MI (July 26, 2023)Traverse City Whiskey Co. (TCWC), a true small batch distillery handcrafting a portfolio of premium whiskies and bourbons in Up North Michigan, will kick off its fourth annual Cherry Whiskey Fest on Sunday, July 30 from 12-4pm at the TCWC Stillhouse (201 E. 14th Street) in Traverse City. Tickets are available for purchase online for $23 at or for $30 at the door and include: (1) premium cocktail, (1) sample of the 2023 Barrel Proof Cherry Whiskey, a TCWC branded tasting glass, (1) raffle ticket for the chance to become a TCWC blender/bottler for a day among other great prizes; live music, and yard games. Delectable food offerings, courtesy of The Chubby Unicorn, and $8 specialty cocktails will also be available for purchase.

As part of the event, TCWC will release its highly coveted Barrel Proof Cherry Whiskey – a limited-release, enhanced strength version of its classic American Cherry Edition – the best-selling craft spirit in the state of Michigan. TCWC’s Barrel Proof Cherry Whiskey features the same mash bill (75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malt barley) and recipe (infused with 10 pounds of Montmorency sour cherries harvested in Leelanau County for three days) but featuring a blend of six hand-selected 5–6-year-old bourbon barrels and bottled at a higher proof. Whiskey lovers can purchase a 750ml bottle at both The Stillhouse in Traverse City and The Outpost in Ferndale, MI, for $89.99. Limit (2) bottles per customer.

Cherry Whiskey enthusiasts who can’t attend Cherry Whiskey Fest can also order a limited-edition kit for $75 at, which includes 200ml bottles of both the Barrel Proof Cherry and American Cherry Edition whiskeys, a jar of TCWC’s premium cocktail cherries, a limited-edition tasting glass and three cocktail tools: jigger, ice mold, and mixing spoon.

TCWC draws upon its early family roots in the distilled spirits industry dating back to the late 1800s, sourcing their grains from the Midwest. The distilling team, led by Chris Fredrickson, strives to make quality products, inspired by patented distilling techniques invented by Fredrickson’s great grandfather that were approved by the US PTO during the prohibition era.
