Barrell Craft Spirits® Unveils Latest Gray Label Releases

New Offerings Showcase the Company’s Blending and Finishing Expertise

Louisville, KY (October 22, 2024) – Barrell Craft Spirits® (BCS), the original independent blender of unique aged, cask strength whiskey since 2013, today launched two new BCS Gray Label offerings. The limited-edition releases utilize the company’s blending and finishing expertise to make bespoke blends with unique finishes.

BCS Gray Label Bourbon (13-year)

For this expression, the BCS blending team created a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys distilled in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Wyoming and matured for between 13-19 years. The barrels harvested for this limited release were selected for their refined properties and extraordinary flavor profile. This complex blend is an opulent bourbon with notes of dark chocolate, Amarena cherry, vanilla and brûléed orange. Every facet of this bourbon is bathed in freshly scraped vanilla bean. A minty fresh and woodsy nose nevertheless retains its foundational cereal note of cinnamon raisin bagel. On the palate one is greeted by a sweet and oily mouthfeel that brings with it notes of demerara rum and apple pie spice. Water unleashes chocolate and coconut and reveals a complex earthiness to the aroma. The new expression is now available online via the BCS website at barrellbourbon.com and in select retailers for the suggested retail price of $159.99 per 750ml bottle.

BCS Gray Label Seagrass (19-year)

For this expression, the BCS blending team selected two groups of 19-year-old 100% Canadian Rye barrels – one with bright citrus and crisp green apple notes and the other with earthy spearmint notes – which were distilled in Canada. A portion of the first group was finished in Apricot Brandy casks, a portion of the second group was finished in Martinique rhum barrels, and a blend of the first and second groups was finished in Malmsey Madeira barrels. When each set of secondary maturation flavors peaked, those casks were pulled and slowly married into the final blend. This deeply mature and rye whiskey has a classic, grassy aroma reinforced by the equally iconic, fresh notes of aged Rhum Agricole. On the palate, the oily rye is complemented by the oxidative, nutty madeira character that also balances that richness with exuberant acidity. Apricot brandy casks splash bright, sometimes tropical fruit over the finish before it fades to reveal the maritime minerality that lends this whiskey its name. The new expression will be available in select retailers later this month and online via the BCS website at barrellbourbon.com, beginning December 1, for the suggested retail price of $199.99 per 750ml bottle.

Founded in 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky, BCS selects and blends products that explore different distillation methods, barrels, and aging environments. BCS’s extensive stocks of high-quality casks mean it can craft extraordinary blends that maximize the nuances of each ingredient. Creative finishes and a liberated approach to blending guides every product release.

The award-winning line of BCS releases are sold in 49 US states, Australia, Canada, South Korea, and the UK. Follow Barrell Craft Spirits on FacebookLinkedInInstagram, and YouTube, or visit barrellbourbon.com.

Blue Note™ Launches Limited-Release Honey Bourbon Cask

Blue Note™ Launches Limited-Release Honey Bourbon Cask

Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Honey Barrels Embraces the Art of Fusion

Memphis, TN (October 23, 2024) – Blue Note Bourbon™, the award-winning whiskey portfolio which is artfully crafted to honor the rich blues music that is synonymous with Memphis, has launched a limited-release Honey Bourbon Cask.

The new expression began its journey by embracing the art of fusion. American oak barrels used for finishing were repurposed to produce delicious, barrel-aged honey. The team then returned the whiskey, which was aged for a minimum of three years, to the honey-infused casks for another round of aging to create a distinct and harmonious profile. Crafted in Memphis, the new expression features a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley, which was bottled at 115.7 proof (57.85% ABV), unfiltered.

Honey Bourbon Cask Tasting Notes

  • Nose: vanilla, cedar, and nut
  • Taste: leather, pear, cedar, wildflower, and honey
  • Finish: gentle and warm with lingering hints of wildflower and honey

Blue Note Honey Bourbon Whiskey is now available for purchase online at BlueNoteBourbon.com, Seelbachs.com, and in the following markets: CT, FL, GA, KS, MO, TN, and TX. The suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle is $64.99.

Blue Note’s whiskey portfolio is distilled in partnership with Bardstown Bourbon Company (parent company of Green River Distilling Company) and then aged just north of downtown Memphis where the Mississippi and Wolf Rivers collide. The long summers filled with infamous Memphis heat and cooler evenings forces the whiskey deep into the oak, creating an unmistakably rich flavor that’s bold yet smooth.

Over the years, Blue Note has introduced several highly awarded limited-release offerings, which include Premium Small Batch, Single Barrel Reserve, 17-year, Special Reserve, and most recently a Honey Rye Cask. These expressions are in addition to the award-winning flagship Blue Note portfolio which includes Juke Joint ($34.99), Crossroads ($44.99), Uncut ($49.99), and Straight Rye Whiskey ($34.99). At the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Juke Joint and Crossroads were awarded Platinum medals, a rare honor meaning that each expression has received Double Gold medals for three consecutive years.

Production Facility & Tasting Room

Blue Note’s 110,000 square foot production facilities, located on Royal Avenue just North of downtown Memphis, are open from Monday through Friday from 10am – 4:00pm and include a unique and intimate tasting room.
